The East Bay Co-op girls hockey team is headed to the Division I finals.

After losing the first game in a best-of-three series against Burrillville, the Eagles played clutch hockey and celebrated two straight wins over the Broncos. Monday night's victory propelled the East Bay Co-op team into the Division I finals where they will face off against LaSalle Academy.

On Monday night, the Eagles played some of their best hockey of the season, skating to a 5-3 win over Burrillville in a Game 3 showdown.

Kat Barker and Sarah Yee each scored two goals and notched assists to lead the Eagles' offense. Maeve Harrington also scored a goal, while Mallory Cox, Ella Hanley and Peyton Whittet had assists.

Facing a must-win situation in Game 2 of the series on Saturday, East Bay responded with a 4-1 victory. Burrillville came out strong, scoring the first goal of the game just 23 seconds into the first period. But East Bay answered with four straight goals — Barker scored twice, while Alexis Malnerich and Whittet each scored single goals. Meanwhile, goalie Ellee Kopecky made one key save after another, shutting down the Broncos and helping the Eagles even up the series at 1-1.

In the series opener, Barker scored a goal, assisted by Yee and Hanley, but the single goal was not enough as East Bay fell 5-1.

The Eagles will open a best-of-three series against LaSalle on Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. The game will be played at URI's Boss Arena. Game 2 is set for Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Boss Arena. Game 3, if needed, will be played on Monday, March 9.
