Editor's note: This letter was sent to members of the Warren Town Council, and Warren Town Manager Kate Michaud, on Thursday, April 8.

As chair of the Veterans Honor Roll Committee, I must stand in opposition to the proposal of “Concerts on the Common.”

The Common is home to three Memorials honoring our town’s heroes – two in tribute to our brave veterans and the third pays tribute to our dedicated volunteer firefighters. I believe the granting of a license to hold concerts on the Common would be disrespectful of our brave citizens who serve – and continue to serve – our country and our town.

The Veterans Honor Roll Committee is meeting Wednesday night, as which time I will ask the Committee members to join me in opposition to the proposed concerts. I am positive a majority of the Committee will agree.

There is no hardship here for the Collaborative to hold their concerts elsewhere. There seems to be plenty of park land in the Town of Warren that could accommodate the Collaborative. You might also want to consider the parking issue.
