Bristol Warren school chief steps aside temporarily to be with family
Dr. Jonathan Brice said he will be out through the month of February
Bristol Warren's school superintendent is stepping away from the job for five weeks to be with his family and provide support to his mother, who is facing health problems.
Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Brice wrote in an email to the school community Thursday that he will be away from the desk through the end of February, as his mother battles cancer.
"I need to provide my attention, love, and support during this time," he wrote.
Though he remains as superintendent, Dr. Brice wrote that most of the district's day-to-day operations will be handled by Dr. Diane Sanna, the district's assistant superintendent.
"Dr. Sanna, other district leaders, and our school administrators are extraordinary teachers, in whom I have complete trust."
He is taking his leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act.
