Bristol Warren Education Foundation's annual fundraiser is Saturday

The Bristol Warren Education Foundation (BWEF), with its signature sponsor, Medical Associates of Rhode Island (MARI), is launching the first iteration of a new fundraising celebration on Saturday, May 13.

The ‘Bee-cathlon’ will be held in-person and indoors at the Roger Williams University Field House from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

“We are grateful to MARI for their continuing commitment to the community and the BWEF. Their support is critical to the mission of the organization.” said Darcy DaCosta, BWEF board chair. “Additionally, having the University back as the venue for the organization’s signature fundraising event puts this new spin on friendly adult competition in a familiar setting.”

DaCosta said that attendees of the event can look forward to a variety of games, entertainment and food catered by Roger Williams, along with a cash bar featuring cocktails from Two Gals. Raffles and a silent auction, featuring a signed New England Patriots Football will also be featured, with proceeds from the latter going to support the Kickemuit Middle School’s Science Olympiad Team (which is currently raising funds for a trip to Kansas to compete in the Nationals Tournament later this month). A portion of ticket sales will also go towards this endeavor, with all other proceeds going to benefit BWEF’s mission of funding grants for the Bristol Warren Regional School District.

The highlight event of the night will be the awarding of grant moneys to various programs and entities within the school district.

DaCosta said that the group had received 25 applications for funding, a record number for BWEF.
