Despite a valiant effort and great play throughout the District 2 Majors tournament, the Bristol Warren All-Stars ultimately fell to Portsmouth in the final round on Saturday at Bristol Memorial Field by a score of 8-4.
It was an uphill climb for Bristol Warren after losing to Portsmouth last week in the winner’s bracket quarterfinal. To earn a spot in the finals, they had to beat Riverside in the loser’s bracket semifinal, which they did, 5-3. Even if they had beaten Portsmouth on Saturday, they would have had to win another game on Sunday to take the title. But ultimately, the Portsmouth team remained undefeated and finished the tournament 4-0.
