Alice M. Lewis (Silva), 92, of Warren, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at Hope Health Hospice in Providence. The daughter of the late Joseph and Albertina Silva and the wife of the late Stephen M. Lewis, she was a lifelong resident of Warren.

Alice enjoyed quiet time at home, usually cooking for her children and later, her grandchildren. She loved tending to her garden and spending time with her family. Most of all, she was known as a wonderful mother and grandmother who adored her family and loved to watch it grow.

Alice is survived by her son, Stephen Lewis of Middletown; her daughter, Jane Rocha of Barrington; her sister, Addie Borgia of Florida; her six grandchildren, Jordan, Ashley, Joseph, Sarah, Emma and Thomas, and one great-grandchild, Ryan. She was the sister of the late Daniel Silva, Joseph Silva, Anthony Silva and Marie Fonseca.

Private arrangements are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. For tributes, please visit www.wjsmithfh.com

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
