Alice “Joyce” (Sampson) Annunziata, 88, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Newport Hospital with her daughters at her side. Joyce was born in Warren, the daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Foley) Sampson.

She was the wife of the late Michael A. Annunziata for 59 years.

Joyce was employed by Crown Fastener and S.E. Rains Manufacturing Co. She was a homemaker as well.

Joyce was a member of the Monday Women’s Bowling League for over 60 years, and the Wednesday and Friday senior leagues at Dudek’s, and achieved numerous top records in each league.

A parishioner of St. Alexander Church, she volunteered at various church functions and always enjoyed family gatherings, dancing, gardening, playing cards and making her famous meatballs.  

Loving mother to Linda Urban (Michael) and Mary Ellen Neves (Gaspar), both of Bristol. Her daughter, Jane Tillison, preceded her in death.

She leaves a sister, Madeline Sweet and a brother Gerald “Sam” Sampson, both of Warren.

Beloved grandmother to Christopher Lannan (Melissa), Heidi Harvey (Ian), Jacob Neves (Elizabeth), Stephanie Neves, Paul and Adam Tillison, and Molly and Kate Urban. She was also blessed with eight great grandchildren. Christopher “CJ” and Devin Lannan, Matthew and Emma DaSilva, Adriana Tillison, and Brooke, Brady and Taylor Sousa.

Joyce was the fun-loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, Joyce’s family respectfully requests donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the RI Food Bank.
