The Kickemuit Middle School sixth, seventh and eight grade bands and the Mt. Hope High School Marching Band and Concert and Symphonic Bands performed during the Bristol Warren Regional School District’s All Band Concert last Wednesday night, including a special appearance by the district’s superintendent, Ana Riley.

The bands performed folk songs “Skip It”, “Lou”, “Hotaru Koi”, “Frere Jacques-Round”, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, Tchaikovsky’s Overture 1812, the Beatles’ “I want to Hold Your Hand”, highlights from the film “Frozen” and others.

Lily Pavao Dion, Jeffrey Brackett and volunteer H. Bennett Burnham conducted the middle school bands, while Christopher Lambert and special guest conductor, Superintendent Ana C. Riley, directed the high school bands.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
