Tiverton’s Costello wins fencing gold medal

Posted

Angeline Costello of Tiverton won the first place gold medal in women’s foil at the annual Beanpot Open Fencing Tournament which drew competitors to the Boston Fencing Club on Saturday, January 27.

The “open” designation indicated no rating restrictions for participants, but as a “senior” event, fencers were required to be at least 13 years old.

With the first-place result, Angeline secured a new national rating of “C,” up from a previous “D” earned in 2018.  The United States Fencing Association awards ratings which range from “A” at the highest to “E.”

Angeline trains with the Rhode Island Fencing Academy & Club in East Providence.
