The Tiverton Majors Softball All-Stars bashed 11 hits as they crushed South Kingstown 13-0 in 4 innings to move on in the state softball tournament on Tuesday night.
Morgan Napolitano smacked a double, a single and drove in 4 runs from the eighth spot. Five hitter, Kylie Hill, laced a double and two singles, drove in a run and scored 2 runs. Lexi Fredricks belted a double and a single, drove in a run and scored 2 runs. Sofie Gill, Olivia Megna, Gabi Piker, and Allie Gendreau each tallied a hit for Tiverton, who scored 3 runs in the first inning, 3 in the second, 4 in the third and 3 more in the fourth to ten-run-rule South Kingstown in 4 innings.
Fredricks and Hill combine fort 8 strikeouts and no-hitter in 4 innings
On the mound for Tiverton, Fredricks struck out 5 and allowed 0 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings of work. It was her third no-hit effort in 5 tournament games.
Kylie Hill entered the game in the third, struck out 3 and allowed 0 hits and 1 walk.
Tiverton will face Cumberland, who has gone 1-1 in the tournament, on Monday, July 15, at Davidson Field in Portsmouth at 5:45 p.m.
The winner will meet Cranston Western in the Championship on Tuesday night.
More Little League news
In other Tiverton Little League news, The Junior softball team is headed back to the Regional World Series in Orange, CT., next Thursday through Monday. If they win, the girls would go to the World Series in Kirkland, WA.
The Tiverton/Little Compton All Star team, may not have won any games, according to league president Mike DeCotis, But they did a solid job for a very young team, he said.
