Tiverton residents dash into drink to welcome the new year

Posted

Dozens of Tiverton residents plunged into Sakonnet River to welcome in the new year at Grinnell's Beach on Saturday.  The plunge was organized by the Tiverton Yacht Club to raise money for the Tiverton Public Library. Colorful garb, including scuba masks donned by Paul Demers and son, Josh, 18, were worn as the throng dashed into the frigid water at noon sharp. Coastal Roasters of Tiverton provided fresh hot coffee before and after the event.
