Tiverton Police: Strange tip; movie inquiry?

Tuesday, Dec. 31

A Gray’s Ice Cream employee reported that a hunter came in at around 5:15 p.m. and left two hunting knives in their sheaths in the tip cup.

At 6:57 p.m., police issued a be-on-the-lookout call for a man in a silver Toyota SUV who allegedly displayed a knife to two juveniles on Route 24 north.

Police and rescue responded to a call for a man who had overdosed on heroin — “slightly breathing.” He was later reported to be alert — transported to the hospital.

Police received a 911 call at 11:05 p.m. about fireworks going off for an hour near Grinnell Avenue, sparks landing in neighbor’s yard. Officers spoke to the homeowner. Twenty minutes later caller reports that they are shooting off fireworks again. Police returned but found nothing going on.

A Russell Driver homeowner returned just before midnight to find the rear door wide open. Police checked the house and basement — nothing found.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

Carols R. Garcia Colon, 28, of Fall River, was arrested on a bench warrant from 2nd Division District Court at 3:03 a.m. in the parking garage of the Tiverton  Casino.

Shawn M. Randazzo, 47, of 146 Bolducs Lane, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence on Main  Road at 10:41 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 2

Shamik M. Steele, 28, of Newport, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. on an affidavit and arrest warrant and on a charge of violating a no-contact order at a Persimmon Drive address.

Police and rescue were called to a Main Road location at 2:10 a.m. where a motorist had swerved to avoid a deer and struck a utility pole. The driver was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital.

At 11:52 a.m., police were called to the town DPW yard for an accident involving two DPW trucks — no injuries.

A driver on Fish Road reported another driver jamming on brakes, trying to cause an accident.

A car struck a deer on Fish Road at 5:48 p.m. The deer had to be put down.

Friday, Jan. 3

A Main Road business owner reported that someone dumped trash in his dumpster.

Police and rescue were called to Stafford Road at 6:21 p.m. for an accident with injuries — both drivers transported to the hospital.

Saturday, Jan. 4

Reny Gonzalez, 36, of Fall River, was arrested at 3:29 a.m. on a charge of driving under the influence near the Tiverton Casino.

Anthony Coelho Jr., 33, of 41 Bellview Ave., Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct at 11:43 p.m. at that address.

Police went to the Tiverton Casino to assist with the permanent ejection of a patron.

Police were called to Main Road in north Tiverton for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at 6 p.m. — pedestrian transported to St. Anne’s Hospital.

A Bridle Way couple returned home to find their front door open, possible break-in. They waited outside until police arrived.

Sunday. Jan. 5

Lauren Pimentel, 33, of 26 Plantation Drive, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of domestic simple assault at 3:53 a.m. at that address.

Luis A. Villegas Magueyal, 38, of New Bedford, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, .15 percent of greater, at 3:08 a.m. after a motor vehicle stop on Fish Road near Cottrell Farms.

Randolph Reynoso, 29, of Warwick, was arrested on an affidavit and arrest warrant at 4:34 p.m. on Route 24.

Monday, Jan. 6

Police assisted at the Tiverton Casino with an ejection at 1:04 a.m.

Don’s Marine reported the theft of a boat.

Police were asked to investigate a resident’s threatening and offensive Facebook postings.

Tuesday, Jan. 7

Responding to a 1:11 a.m. suspicious persons report on Chace Avenue, an officer found “no issues, parties just walking their dog.”

A car struck a deer on Main Road at 7 a.m. An officer had to put the deer down.

Police were called for a report of an overdose. The man was transported to St,. Anne’s Hospital.

At 10:04 a.m., a drone was found on the sidewalk at a preschool. Police removed the drone.

Trees were reportedly removed from town property off Main Road without permission.

A Neck Road resident said she had received a letter asking to use her property in an HBO movie, “would like an officer to double-check to make sure it’s legit.”  Officer replied, “I looked at letter, seems legit.”

At 4:16 p.m., a vehicle went off Main  Road near Bulgarmarsh, “rode guardrail, heavy damage to entire length of passenger side, both tires blown, air bags deployed.” No injuries.

A resident reported shooting in the area for the past half-hour near Dewey Avenue. An officer reported nothing showing.

Wednesday, Jan. 8

A 39-year-old Tiverton man was arrested on a charge of domestic simple assault at 8:25 a.m. The suspect pled not guilty and the case was later dismissed.

David B. Bennett, 37, of 25 Mathew Road, Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic disorderly conduct and domestic vandalism at 12:52 p.m. at that address.

Thursday, Jan. 9

At 8:01 a.m., police checked the area of Main Road near Pocasset School for a man who appeared to be high on drugs. A man was transported to the station to arrange for a ride.
