Tiverton Police Report: Lost hikers found; dog kills ducks

Tuesday, Dec. 3

At 12:06 p.m. on Canning Boulevard, Rin Poll, 59, of Acushnet, Mass., was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, .15% or greater.

At 12:12 p.m., a car hit a pole on North Brayton Road — no injuries.

A car spun out in the snow and landed in a ditch off the Fish Road exit from Route 24 at 3 p.m.

Firefighters were dispatched to Clegg Avenue for what proved to be a boiler backfire.

Wednesday, Dec. 4

A truck drove over and damaged the Senior Center lawn and did not stop.

Police and rescue were called to Bulgarmarsh Road at 2:08 p.m. for an accident with injuries.

Thursday, Dec. 5

Jason S. Kahian, 25, of Middleborough, Mass., was arrested at the Tiverton Casino Hotel at 5:56 p.m. on a warrant for a charge of vandalism.

At 3:59 p.m., “Gentleman with elf hat and jingle bells going up to doors in the neighborhood, possible solicitor” at Main Road address. Police could not find the ‘elf.’

Police responded to several accidents involving deer struck by vehicles.

Friday, Dec. 6

Marc. T. Pacheco, 49, of West Warwick, was arrested on a Family Court warrant at 6:03 p.m. at the Atlantic Sports Bar & Restaurant, Shove Street.

Police were called to the Tiverton High School parking lot for a report of tires slashed.

A package believed to be containing floor mats was reported stolen from a Judson Street front porch.

Saturday, Dec. 7

A Hooper Street reported that his girlfriend just smashed his car window and left the area.

Police were called to Route 24 for a 911 call reporting an elderly man lying in the road. Massachusetts State Police transported the man from the scene.

Two women called police shortly before 5 p.m. to report that they were lost in Weetamoo Woods — they had gone from the East Road entrance to the yellow trail and were trying to find the orange trail. 911 phone pinging revealed that they were in about .9 miles. A Fire Department crew on an off-road Gator located the women a short while later and transported them out of the woods. 

Sunday, Dec. 8

Robert A. Homer, 53, of 909 Main Road, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of vandalism at 12:04 p.m. at a Main Road address.

Raymond E, Wood, 50, of Fall River, was arrested on a bench warrant from 2nd Division District Court at 7:02 p.m. at the police station.

Police were called to the yellow trail in Weetamoo Woods at 12:26 a.m. for what sounded like dogs fighting. Police reported, “It was just owners training their beagles.”

Monday, Dec. 9

At 6:37 a.m., a Lewis Street resident reported that a neighbor’s dog, a husky, had killed all of his ducks
