James Maria, 29, of 2 Hayden Ave., Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license, second offense.

Police were called to Warren Avenue at 12:29 p.m. for a neighbor dispute about a contractor working on the property … “Peace restored.”

At 2:14 p.m., police were called to Matthew Street for a juvenile who had run away from home after an argument. The youth was found and returned home.

Tuesday, May 12

A caller reported three vehicles with Massachusetts plates parked at Grinnell’s Beach. Officer reported that all are abiding by social distancing.

A 911 caller reported that two customers at a Main Road shop took his phone. The caller later said that he had found the phone in his car.

Starting at 4:44 p.m., officers made social distancing checks at Fogland Beach, Town Farm, Cumberland Farms, Grinnell’s Beach, Seapowet Beach, Bulgarmarsh Road Recreation Area, Crossroads Liquors, and General Dollar. No issues found, but police dispersed Massachusetts cars found at Seapowet Beach.

At 7:30 p.m., police went to a Walnut Street residence for a 911 call with “screaming in the background.” The call was determined to be accidental.

At 9:02 p.m., police were called for a juvenile breaking things. The youth was transported to the hospital.

Wednesday, May 13

Harmonie L. Gibeau, 38, of Fall River, was arrested on Crandall Road at 6:04 p.m. (on her birthday) on five counts of narcotics possession, driving under the influence of a drug, and on a weapons law violation (all first offenses). The arrest took place after her vehicle struck a stone wall.

Ja’Ney Lee Berry, 18, of Fall River, was arrested on a bench warrant from 6th District Court for a drug violation and on a charge of obstructing a police officer at 6:27 p.m. on Crandall Road. 

At 5:08 a.m., a car struck and killed a deer on Bulgarmarsh Road.

At 6:43 a.m., police were asked to make a social distancing check at Dunkin’ Donuts — “no issues, all patrons utilizing drive-thru.”

Police went to Stafford Road at 9:29 a.m. for a dog bite. The victim was doing Invisible Fence training when the dog bit her.

A person horseback riding near a Main Road stable reported reported seeing a dog trying to play with a coyote. The owner said the dog is up-to-date on its shots.

Police responded to Bulgarmarsh Road at the Westport line at 4:26 p.m. for a two-car accident, no injuries.

Police conducted social distancing checks at a number of local businesses starting at 4:45 p.m. “Social Distancing standards are being maintained. Customers and Staff wearing masks, less than the maximum occupancy is currently in store” reported at all.

At 5:44 p.m., police went to Lawton Avenue for a neighbor dispute.

Thursday, May 14

Police went to Holly Circle at 8:33 a.m. to assist a caller whose cat has been in the drop ceiling for three days.

At 10:06 a.m., a Bismark Avenue caller reported a fox in the yard.

At 4:01 p.m., police went to Bouchard Lane to assist with a birthday parade.

A 911 caller reported two pickup trucks chasing each other from the Fall River line, drivers then got out and yelled at each other before heading onto Route 24.

At 6:39 p.m., police checked on three scooters parked behind a Stafford Road business. The operators of all three were cited for driving without licenses.

At 6:40 p.m., a Hooper Street resident reported ghat people from vehicles with Massachusetts plates are fishing. Officer reports, “vehicles are leaving now.”

Police went to Standish Marine to go with Marine 1 (boat) to assist a reportedly intoxicated man in a canoe who witnesses feared was about to tip over. The paddler made it safely to shore.

Friday, May 15

At 2:11 a.m., police went to Ruecker Wildlife Refuge in Seapowet Avenue to check on suspicious persons. “Playing Pokemon — dispersed,” an officer reported.

A Colonial Avenue called complained at 10:51 a.m. that a neighbor lets the dog out without a leash, dog then defecates on neighbors’ yards.

Numerous people were reported to be fishing from Nanaquaket Bridge at 11:32 a.m.

At 1:55 p.m., were called about horses being ridden on Fogland Beach. The riders were dispersed.

Dirt bikes speeding up and down Bramble Way and Briarwood Avenue were reported at 4:20 p.m.

Two dirt bikes were reported on Canonicus Street at 4:45 p.m. One driver was cited for an expired license.

After receiving a 911 call at 5:25 p.m., police and rescue went to Stafford Pond for a person who fell out of his kayak and was swimming for shore. The person made it to shore and declined medical treatment.

Someone dumped eight trash bags full of insulation at the Lafayette Road entrance to Weetamoo Woods.

Saturday, May 18

Early morning social distancing checks at town beaches etc. No issues reported. Numerous business were checked later in the morning, same result.

Bullets and a magazine were reported on a State Avenue sidewalk. Police retrieved the items.

At 9:16 a.m., numerous people were removed from the Grinnell’s Beach fishing area.

At 10:08 a.m,. numerous vehicles were denied entry to the Fogland Beach area due to executive order regarding out-of-state vehicles. 

At 10:32 a.m., police checked vehicles entering the Bulgarmarsh Flea Market. “No outside vendors, social distancing standards met.”

At 11:16 a.m., “multiple out-of-state residents dispersed at Grinnell’s Beach.

Police went to Classic Pizza for line at the drive-thru backing up onto Main Road. Officer reported “traffic flowing now, no issues.”

Fishermen on Nanaquaket Bridge were advised to abide by social distancing rules at 11:22 a.m.

Police went to Old Main Road at 2:07 p.m. for a large group of people with loud music, cars racing up and down the street.

Cars with Massachusetts plates were dispersed at Fort Barton.

At 7:36 p.m., firefighters and police were called to Seapowet Avenue for a brush fire. The fire was determined to be a “controlled burn;” the owner was advised about the ordinance.

Sunday, May 17

At 12:52 a.m., police and rescue were summoned to Main Road for an accident — a vehicle cut a pole in half and had to be towed away but nobody was injured.

Someone smashed the window of a vehicle parked at the Fish Road park and ride.

A Main Road resident told police that he was checking his mail at 3:34 p.m. when a man on a bicycle rode by and slapped him in the face.

A motorist struck and killed a deer on Bulgarmarsh Road at 8:18 p.m.

Daniel S. Furtado, 49, of 289 State Ave., Tiverton, was arrested at 3:17 p.m. at a State Avenue address on charges of felony assault and domestic simple assault.

Joshua A. Amorin, 29, of 305 Fish Road, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of obstructing a police officer at 6:17 p.m. on State Avenue.
