Tiverton Police:  One hurt when vehicle hits pole

An officer was called to the Bulgarmarsh Road recreation area for a dog locked in a red truck.

One truck hit another on Grinnell Avenue at 3:11 pm. There were no injuries.

An ATV complaint at 4:22 pm led to a confrontation about picture taking. Both parties were issued no trespass orders.

Two units were dispatched to a 6:19 pm call about a fight in progress near the food court at the Tiverton Casino. No arrests were reported.

Saturday, March 13

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino at 12:39 am for a report that a man had taken his girlfriend’s keys as she was driving away after a dispute. He disappeared on foot into Fall River; a wrecker was called for her car.

Anthony L. Audette, 19, of Fall River, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana, more than one ounce, at 2:08 pm on Fish Road.

Several callers alerted police to a large gathering and loud music coming from the Pocasset School field at 5:07 pm. “Vehicles will be leaving the area,” an officer reported.

Police were called about an ongoing neighbor dispute on Wampanoag Lane at 5:18 pm.

Douglas J. Borden, 51, of 120 Wampanoag Lane, Tiverton, was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge at 7:05 pm on Wampanoag Lane.

Daniel C. Moura, 49, of New Bedford, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol concentration unknown, at 8:25 pm, near the Tiverton Casino.

At 9:43 pm , a caller said a black Mustang is “burning up and down” Cypress Street.

Jamison T. Durfee, 43, of 2553 Main Road, Tiverton, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol concentration unknown, and possession of marijuana, more than one ounce, at 12:05 am on Route 24 north.

Sunday, March 14

At 1 am, Wampanoag Lane 911 caller reported that a person threw a rock at his truck and smashed the windshield.

Kevin C. Harding, 55, of Swansea, Mass., was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, blood concentration unknown, and refusing to submit to a chemical test, at 1 am on Route 24 north.

At 3:14 pm, a walker on the Fort Barton red trail reported being yelled at by a property owner in the area.

Matthew L. Alves, 36, of Fall River, was arrested on a bench warrant from 6th District Court at 6:04 pm at Stateline Tobacco Store.

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino at 8:22 pm about a stolen ticket.

A Main Road (near state line) resident called at 8:44 pm about a person in a nearby apartment playing the guitar loudly.

A resident of Applecreek Apartments, Windwood Drive, called about a loud neighbor at 10:22 pm.

Monday, March 15

At 8:52 am, police and rescue went to the area of the Subway shop, 1289 Stafford Road, after a car went off the road and struck a utility pole. The road was shut down due to leaking gasoline and damage to the pole. One person was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital.

At 11:38 am, a heavy amount of graffiti was discovered on the side of Pocasset School facing the baseball field.

Caitlin Lynch, 35, of East Providence, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, blood concentration unknown, and refusing to submit to a chemical test at 12:43 am on Route 24 north.

Two men in a pickup truck were reported to be dumping trash in the area of Kaufman Road at 12:37 pm.

Gregg D. Pechkam, 56, of 151 West Main Road, Little Compton, was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge at 5:30 pm at Family Physicians of Tiverton, Main Road.

A Lazywood Lane caller notified police at 2:21 pm that a neighbor had put up a sign stating, “(caller’s first name) is a rat” with a rat drawn alongside. An officer who went to check said the sign had been removed. 

Tuesday, March 16

At 4:03 am, a Tiverton officer radioed that he was attempting to stop a black car headed north on Route 24 at approximately 110 mph. Massachusetts State Police were notified.

A Tower Hill Road caller reported the theft of five trailer tires.

At 9:23 pm, a Farnum Street resident reported that one chicken had been killed, another injured in the roadway. An officer helped gather the rest of the flock.

Wednesday, March 17

Vidal A. Covarrubias, 33, of Fall River, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, blood alcohol concentration unknown, and refusing to submit to a chemical test, at 2:23 am on Route 24 south. Police had responded to an accident at that location.
