Tiverton Police: Lawn care trailer burns, explodes

Sunday, Nov. 15

At 12:31 am, a Bourne Mill Apartments caller reported two vehicles blocking the State Avenue intersection — multiple people, loud music, beer bottles being thrown. Police checked the area but found nothing.

A resident reported that someone had made charges to her bank account.

Police were called to Tiverton Casino Hotel about possible vandalism at 3:35 pm.

A large group of motorcycles was reported in the area of Longplex Family & Sports Center at 4:19 pm.

Efforts to stop two dirt bikes that callers said were being operated recklessly without lights from Main Road to the area of Highland Road proved unsuccessful at 6:47 pm.

A fallen tree was reported on East Road at 9:05 pm.

A 911 caller reported a second fallen tree on East Road at 10:43 pm — completely blocking the road. State DOT removed the tree by 12:25 am.

A tree fell on a house, bringing electric wires with it, at 10:45 pm on Restful Valley Road. National Grid and the building inspector responded.

Monday, Nov. 16

Police were called at 10:41 am about a dump truck using Warren Avenue.

At 1:01 pm, a caller in a staircase at Bourne Mill Apartments called to report being harassed by several people.

A Cliff Street resident called at 4:52 pm to complain about dirt bike(s). The bike could not be located.

At 4:57 pm, a caller reported that her car had been keyed in the parking lot at Bourne Mill Apartments.

A Caribou Way resident reported that when he returned home he discovered that his shed had been vandalized.

Lawrence Court residents called at 7:22 pm to notify police that the town had just repaved their street and that someone is already digging it up again. Police found that the road was not damaged — “party was just removing dirt.”

A 911 caller at Dadson Mobile Home Park reported at 10:01 pm that a man had just punched a woman and fled on foot.

Tuesday, Nov. 17

A motorist on Main Road called at 9:05 am to report that she had locked her keys in the car with the engine and heat on and that her dog was in the vehicle. Nine minutes later, an officer radioed that “dog is doing well.”

A Bourne Mill Apartments resident called at 11:58 am to complain about a loud neighbor.

At 3:02 pm, 911 callers on Riverscape Lane reported that a landscape truck’s trailer was on fire with landscape equipment and gasoline cans on board. Moments later, more callers reported that a landscape truck and/or trailer had exploded. First firefighters to arrive reported that the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. A large box truck was also damaged and had to be towed away. There were no reports of injury.

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino about an intoxicated person being escorted out at 4:13 pm. The man took a cab home.

Police went to the parking lot of Tiverton Liquors at 5:07 pm for a hit and run accident.

Bourne Mill Apartments residents called at 8:15 pm to report that a neighbor is allowing children to jump and make noise.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

At 8:51 am, a caller reported a coyote in the Hancock Street area.

Two loose black labs were reported at the Trout Pond at 9:51 am.

A Bulgarmarsh Road resident reported being scammed out of $2,000.

A resident reported that someone applied for a small business loan under her name and bank account.

Nicole J. Rosenberg, 21, of 72 Russell Drive, Tiverton, was arrested on a bench warrant from 2nd Division District Court at 8:15 pm on Main Road.

At 8:30 pm, Bourne Mill callers report loud noises and banging caused by children in an apartment.

Marc A. DeMello, 32, of 1295 Stafford Road, Tiverton, was arrested on two charges of domestic simple assault, and one charge of domestic disorderly conduct at an address on Old Stafford Road at 10:20 pm.

Thursday, Nov. 19

Firefighters were called to the Tiverton Casino Hotel at 6:09 am for a small fire in the rear employee parking lot near the propane tank. The fire was extinguished.

A 911 caller reported power lines down on Merritt Avenue at 7:43 am. A fire engine and National Grid responded.

An officer responded to a loose dog complaint off Route 24 at 12:09 but reported that “it’s a coyote in Fall River.”

At 5:33 pm, police were notified about a couch on Route 24.

Two deer were struck by cars shortly after 7:30 pm, one on Nanaquaket Road, the other on Route 24 (wrecker was called).

Rhonda L. Stephens, 55, of 710 Windwood Drive, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of obstructing a police officer at 8:30 pm at Windwood Apartments.

A caller reported noises coming from a shack in the woods off Highland Road at 8:08 pm. Police believe the noise was caused by a loose board over the shack window.

Friday, Nov. 20

Julia R. Dagesse, 19, of 1063 Bulgarmarsh Road, Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct at 4:40 am at a Willow Tree Road location.

A Riverside Drive resident called to report someone taking pictures of his house.
