Tiverton Police: House fills with smoke after baby bottle mishap

Monday, Nov. 23

At 8:16 am, a representative of the Secret Service contacted the Tiverton Municipal Court to check on a fraud case.

At 9:11 am, police were called about a tractor trailer truck using Warren Avenue (which large trucks are not supposed to travel).

At 10:16 am, police were notified of heavy flooding on the Main Road on-ramp to Route 24. The state DOT said it would send a crew.

A caller reported that a newspaper delivery truck was speeding on Merritt Avenue at 10:28 pm.

Massachusetts State Police contacted Tiverton regarding a hit and run case in Arlington, Mass. The suspect vehicle had left debris including a license plate traced to a Tiverton owner.

At  1:24 pm, a 911 caller reported a gray Ford pickup truck “all over the road” near the corner of Bulgarmarsh and Stafford roads. Westport Police were also notified.

Bags of clothing were reported on Shove Street at 2:35 pm.

911 callers reported that a car and truck struck a deer on Albert Street at 5:13 pm. The deer went over the car and was struck and killed by a truck. Neither driver was injured.

Police went to Windwood Apartments in response to a 9:01 pm call about people arguing and yelling. All was quiet when officers arrived.

Tuesday, Nov. 24

A hit and run accident that damaged a parked vehicle was reported on Hooper Street at 7:20 am.

Chad J. Ramos, 30, of Fall River, was arrested on a bench warrant from 2nd Division Court at 6:35 pm on State Avenue.

Police were contacted about a flatbed truck that had been parked on Cliff Street for over a month. The vehicle owner said it would be moved.

Police were notified about a large trench that had developed on Riverside Drive. The state DOT was advised.

A Little Compton resident complained to police that a Tiverton mechanic had damaged his vehicle.

Several people called to notify police about an unemployment scam.

At 5:51 pm, a caller on Route 24 South called to notify police that her vehicle had been damaged by debris from a truck and is now unsafe to drive.

Wednesday, Nov. 25

A loose yellow lab was reported on Cypress Avenue at 1:02 am.

A fox was reported on Durfee Road at 7:05 am.

A 911 caller alerted police and firefighters to a brush fire off North Brayton Road. At 9:27 am. The fire was reported extinguished about 15 minutes later.

A youth driving a dirt bike was reported on Bridle Way at 2:20 pm.

At 4:47 pm, a 911 caller alerted police to a suspicious vehicle parked on Pelletier Lane with a man inside dressed in black and wearing a black mask. “Party has a flat tire, AAA en-route,” an officer determined.

Brandyn T. DeMelo, 26, of Fall River, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of liquor, blood alcohol level of .15 percent or greater, at 9:14 pm on Hayden Avenue.

911 callers reported an erratic driver northbound on Route 24 in Tiverton at 5:06 pm (the vehicle had also struck a curb in Portsmouth). The vehicle crossed crossed the state line where Massachusetts police took the driver into custody.

A caller reported at 7:09 pm that paint on Bulgarmarsh Road had splashed onto his truck.

Thursday, Nov. 26

At 2:38 am, a 911 caller told police that she could hear men in her attic who are threatening to kill her. She was reassured that there had been no break-in.

Police and firefighters were alerted by a 911 caller at 3:54 am to smoke in a Main Road house resulting from an attempt to disinfect a baby bottle. The house was ventilated and one person was transported to the hospital.

Police were called to Seapowet Avenue at 8:34 pm for someone talking in the neighborhood at a time that “no-one should be outside.” An officer responded but could find nothing suspicious.

Police and firefighters responded to fire alarms in the Tiverton Casino parking garage at 11:22 pm. No fire was found.

Friday, Nov. 27

Luis R. Rosado-Villegas, 34, of New Bedford, was arrested on a bench warrant from 3rd District Court, and on a charge of driving with a suspended license at 12:25 am on Route 24 South.

At 11:03 am, a Neck Road caller said a coyote is sitting in the driveway. An officer reported, “coyote went into woods.”

At 12:35 pm, a caller reported homeless people in Pardon Grey Preserve near ‘Woods High Rock.’ No homeless people were found.

A fire alarm at Tiverton Casino at 3:33 pm proved to be a false alarm.

Daryl R. Keyser, 30, of Fall River, was arrested on charges of reckless driving, obstructing a police officer, driving with a suspended license and on an affidavit and arrest warrant and a bench warrant from 2nd District Court at 5:34 pm on Canning Boulevard.

Police and rescue were called to the area of 121 Stafford Road (near the entrance to Macray’s Seafood) at 6:22 pm for a two-car accident. One person was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital and the vehicles were towed.

A 911 call about a family disturbance brought police to Kitchener Street at 6:30 pm. The matter was resolved after officers arrived.

A caller reported at 8:53 pm that a woman wearing a hoodie had attempted to break into a vehicle on Hayden Avenue.

Someone knocking on windows was reported at Sakonnet Bay Manor at 7:08 pm. Police checked but found nobody outside.

Saturday, Nov. 28

Responding to a report of an unconscious person at 12:11 am, rescuers administered Narcan; the person was revived and transported to St. Anne’s Hospital.

Alerted by a 911 call, police and rescue went to Cory’s Lane at 10:26 am for a person who had been punched in the face. The victim was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital.

A Mockingbird Lane resident was treated for a bite to the hand caused days earlier by a neighbor’s dog.

Police were called to Bourne Mill Apartments at 11:22 pm for a neighbor dispute about noise.

Sunday, Nov. 29

A 911 caller on North Christopher Avenue reported that someone was going through his mailbox at 2:05 am. The officer found that the person had actually struck the mailbox with his vehicle.

At 6:28 am, hunters were reported in the marsh near Seapowet Beach.

A coyote was reported on Hancock Street at 9:37 am.

A Main Road resident notified police that his Main Road apartment had been broken into sometime during the morning.

Police were called to the Tiverton Casino at 4:33 pm about possible counterfeit $100 bills. After investigation there was determined to be “no offense.”

Monday, Nov. 30

Tractor trailers using the roadway were reported on Warren Avenue at 8:52 am.
