Tiverton Police: Domestic assaults; forklift falls into hole

Monday, July 17

George D. Manchester, 48, of 74 Stafford Road, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of violation of a no-contact order at 10:46 am at that address.

At 11:46 am, a caller told police she wanted her ex-husband removed from her home. An officer reported, “party left, peace restored.”

Police and rescue were called to the intersection of Main Road and Canonicus Street at 1:04 pm for a 911 call reporting a two vehicle accident with injuries. Three patients were transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Shelly Shough, 50, of Newport, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, and refusal to submit to a chemical test at 2:39 pm after leaving the parking lot of a Main Road Tiverton liquor store.

A Colonial Avenue resident called to report being victimized by a PayPal scam.

A Bourne Mill resident reported someone banging something in the apartment next door at 10:37 pm.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Grinnell Avenue. Police responded and spoke to a young man — no action needed.

Tuesday, July 28

At 6:51 pm, having received a Crandall Road neighbor complaint, police notified a contractor of an ordinance prohibiting starting work before 7 am.

Cody R. Frazier, 26, of 167 Persimmon Drive, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of domestic disorderly conduct at 6:50 pm at a Stafford Road location.

After responding to a 10:50 am 911 call in the vicinity of Fish Road and Hooper Street in which two children were heard in the background saying they need help, police searched the area for over an hour but found nothing.

Police were called about a suspicious truck backed into the driveway of an abandoned property on Bay Street. Police say the driver was just using the driveway to stop and give his dog some water.

Police were called at 11:31 am about two cars vandalized on Highland Road.

A hit and run accident was reported at State Line Tobacco Store, Stafford Road at 12:57 pm. The suspect vehicle took off into Fall River.

At 3:35 pm, police and rescue were called to Northeast Millwork, Eagleville Road, for a forklift that fell into a hole. Nobody was injured but smoke was coming from the forklift.

At 5:36 pm, a Hilton Street caller reported a burglary sometime recently. A deadbolt was unlocked, the house rummaged through and items were taken.

Police responded to a 6:31 pm call about three men throwing trash into the water at Nanaquaket Bridge.

Police checked out a report of suspected drug activity in the upper garage of the Tiverton Casino. Nothing found.

Wednesday, July 29

Eric R. Cruz, 31, of 333 State Ave., Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic simple assault, domestic vandalism and domestic disorderly conduct at 9:50 pm at that address.

Joseph N. Neronha Jr., 48, of 576 East Road, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of violation of a District Court protective order, third offense, at 10:55 pm at that address.

At 11:08 am, police spoke to fishermen near Quaker Avenue regarding public urination complaints.

Police were notified about, but could not find, a silver van “all over the road … throwing trash out the window.”

Police went to Fish Road at 12:59 pm for a two-car accident, no injuries.

A motorist called police at 6:15 pm to say she was being followed by a another car after a road rage incident and that she planned to pull in at the police station. The other car disappeared.

At 6:23 pm, a Stafford Road caller reported a large truck with vulgar signs.

Police were called to Fogland Beach for a fireworks complaint at 10:49 pm.

Thursday, July 30

Police were called to Fogland Beach about a suspicious vehicle at 1:29 am. The officer reported that the people had been there all day and had fallen asleep — will be leaving soon.

At 3:47 am, police and firefighters were called to Kearns Avenue for an electrical fire. Little damage was done but power had to be shut off.

Georgina Delacampa, 24, of 21 Leger Lane, Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of violation of a no-contact order, second offense, at that address.

A caller asked police for assistance getting a cat into a crate.

Cory J. Camara, 32, of 21 Leger Lane, Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic assault by strangulation, domestic simple assault (second offense), domestic violation of a no-contact order (second offense), and domestic disorderly conduct, at 3:37 pm at a Stafford Road location.

At 6:42 pm, police were called to Nanaquaket Road for three motorcycles racing. Nothing was found.

Road rage involving three vehicles was reported on Lake Road at 7:23 pm.

Friday, July 31

At 11:36 am, a caller reported shots heard in the area of Bay Street.

At 4:02 pm, a caller reported that he found a lost yellow labrador with tags in Weetamoo Woods and the dog is now following him. The dog was taken to West Place Animal Sanctuary and later retrieved by its Middletown owner.

A caller from the Tiverton Casino reported that someone at the casino stole money from his account through his phone using Venmo.

Saturday, Aug. 1

At 2:28 am, police were called to the Tiverton Casino for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle had been taken by a repossession company which left notification.

William Trezenka, 57, of Quincy, Mass., was charged with driving under the influence, blood alcohol concentration unknown, at 7:07 pm in the vicinity of Town Farm on Main Road. He was stopped after Tiverton Police were called by Little Compton Police about an erratic northbound vehicle.

At 10:45 am, police were asked to assist with an ejection at Tiverton Casino.

At 12:24 pm, police and rescue were called to the Canning Boulevard rotary for a two-vehicle accident. One person was bleeding but no rescue transport was needed.

Police, fire and the Marine Task Force were called to Fogland Beach at 5:32 pm for a report of a jet skier in distress and waving his arms. The jet ski was given a tow to shore — “no injuries, mechanical issues.”

Police were called to Wilcox Avenue at 6:36 pm for a complaint of fishermen trespassing, followed by an argument.

A Linda Road caller reported that his license plates had been stolen and he had just received a NY Bridge Authority ticket by mail with a photo of his plates on another vehicle.

Sunday, Aug. 2

At 7:12 am, a motorist called to report that he had seen “a woman being removed/thrown from one car into the next” under the Eagleville Road underpass. Police searched the area but did not find wither vehicle.

A missing juvenile from Tiverton was located in Woondoscket with help from Woonsocket Police and cell-phone tracing.

A South Court resident called to complain about kids turning off her air conditioning through the night.

Police went to Bramblewood Way for a dirt bike complaint at 4:13 pm.

Police went to Grinnell Avenue in response to a 911 call about two mopeds being driven erratically at 6:15 pm.

Russell M. Rego, 46, of Fall River, was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle (moped), possession of a prohibited weapon other than a firearm, and driving with a suspended license at 9:33 pm on State Avenue.
