TIVERTON — In a rematch of last year’s Division IV Super Bowl, visiting North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles used strong line play to wear down Tiverton Saturday for a 30-12 victory.

The Tigers kept it close early on with a pair of touchdown runs by quarterback Matthew Gacioch.

Gacioch’s first TD actually gave the Tigers a brief 6-0 first quarter lead. Unbeaten North Smithfield was quick to answer, however, with a pair of scores.

Gacioch’s second scoring run pulled the Tigers to within one but that was as close as it would get.

North Smithfield led 16-12 at the half and outscored Tiverton 14-0 in the second half.

The Tigers host Ponagansett next weekend.
