SEEKONK — The Seekonk Police, Thursday, May 23, apprehended a Florida man believed to have committed a string of robberies at ATMs located through Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Dean Colin, 26, of Miami, Fla., was arrested on two counts of larceny over $1,200 by false pretense, possession of 4 or more falsely embossed credit cards and two counts of credit card fraud.

After Mr. Colin was booked at the Seekonk Police Headquarters, he was transferred to the Bristol County Sheriffs Department for holding. He is currently being held on $500,000 bail. Mr. Colin was to be arraigned on the above crimes at Taunton District Court on Friday, May 24.

According to the report of the SPD, at about 8:35 p.m. Thursday it received information that Mr. Colin was at a bank located in Seekonk. Mr. Colin was a suspect in fraudulently withdrawing money from ATMs throughout Southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. It is suspected that Mr. Colin's recent criminal activity has already amounted to close three quarters of million dollars.

Lt. Eric Chalifoux arrived at the bank in question and observed a black male who fit the description of a suspect identified in a prior police bulletin. The male was at the bank's interior ATM. Other officers arrived a short time later. After a brief inquiry of the suspect, he was placed under arrest without incident.

The Seekonk Detective Division took over the investigation along with other local and federal agencies. Search warrants were obtained for a vehicle and hotel room, which resulted in the recovery of approximately $65,920 cash.

This case is an ongoing investigation, and other charges may be forthcoming from a multitude of other law enforcement agencies.
