Raymond J. Morrow, 82, of Tiverton, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Emily (Ferreira) Morrow. Ray was born in Cheboygan, Michigan. He was the oldest son of Minnie and Roy Morrow.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, he leaves behind three devoted daughters, Theresa Canulla (husband Marcus), Joyce Johnson (husband Mark), and Raeann Morrow (companion Thomas Kaminski). He delighted in being “Papa” to granddaughters Megan Remmes (husband Robert) and Laura Canulla (fiancé Adam Oliveira) and great-grandsons Robert and Benjamin Remmes.

Ray graduated from Niles High School in 1956. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served on the USS Arcadia. After serving his country, Ray worked as a research and development engineer.

In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing with friends and family and taking his daily walks. Although he spent most of his adult life in Rhode Island, Ray had strong ties to his native Michigan where he is survived by a brother Peter (wife Penny) and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Mary Pedersen (husband George).

Per Ray’s request, arrangements will be private. Condolences can be made at www.almeida-pocasset.com

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
