Marjorie Larson, 95, Tiverton

Marjorie Larson, 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 26, 2020. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Larson.

 Marjorie was born in South Weymouth, Mass., and was a resident of Tiverton since 1966. She was  a graduate of Mt. Holyoke and Simmons College and was employed as a social worker with Boston Children’s Services for many years. 

Marjorie was dedicated to the mission of open space and nature preservation both locally and nationally. She was a member of the Tiverton Open Space Commission, the Tiverton Garden Club and the Tiverton Conservation Commission. 

 She is survived by her step-children, Christopher B. Larson and his longtime companion Jean Letendre of NH, and Lissa Waring and her husband John of SC; grandchildren, Nancy and Andrew Waring.

She was the step-mother of the late Peter E. Larson and is also survived by his wife Carol Larson of NC.

Her family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Elaine Atkinson-Sedoma and family for the loving care they have provided to Marjorie over the last seven years.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the Hathaway Home for Funerals, Fall River.

 Donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to a local nature conservancy or to a charity of your choice.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
