To the editor:

According to the TTA councilors in question they do nothing wrong! They want you to believe they do everything in a very transparent, above-board, honest and open way as per their campaign promises. Reality, however makes it looks like most of their decisions have been made well in advance.

That was quite evident in one of their first meetings, Katz’s “he’s not my friend” friend solicitor appointment was pre-planned well before the actual town meeting ever took place. Non-TTA councilors were intentionally blindsided on this premature ill-conceived political appointment.

Coulter and Katz hope you forget their failed attempt to limit your right to speak at council meetings. They tried. Katz since then said their council has been “more friendly” lately to input, and has not denied people the right to speak about issues. Lucky us!

How “friendly” to input were they prior to the FTR trying to prevent an alternative budget choice on the ballot? Katz has presented alternative budgets many years at the FTR, but you wouldn’t be allowed to. Typical, their “my-way-or-no-way” approach to governing.

How about their Second Amendment fiasco?

Can they honestly defend their action regarding their library director appointment as one benefitting Tiverton? Little did they know that appointing this dud to the board would eventually blow up in their face.

Now I ask, did McLaughlin or non-TTA councilors vote for any of the above decisions? Hell no, but according to the TTA the recall is strictly their fault, forgetting the fact that taxpayers are fed up with their shenanigans. As usual, they blame others when things go wrong.

Was Katz’s private meeting with the school superintendent just his attempt at intimidation? It looked that way. The TTA answer to questioning concerning that meeting, another arrogant response, “So what!” If I had a child enrolled in our schools, I’d be the first in line to vote recall.

Public opinion is that Katz’s ego and arrogance rivals that of the local mayor and President. Scary!

President Coulter’s lawyer side shows frequentyl, he states 90-95% of the time everyone votes the same. 95% of the votes are rubber-stamp items anyway! He recently wrote “things are going well – quite well, actually – in Tiverton.” That sounds like Mr. Rogers’ world, not Tiverton! Lawyers have a way with words!

They want credit for hiring a Fire Chief, buying a rescue vehicle and so on, did they really have a choice? They tout they addressed the land fill closure issue, but have they solved it? They would like credit for the Grinnell’s beach project, that’s a joke if there ever was one. Now they boast, we are releasing all executive session meeting records to further open government. Do you really care about that? All this does is overload the Town Clerks office. They want credit for lowering our taxes, that’s bull, the casino money lowered taxes, not them!

While all of this is bad enough, what they might do next really scares me.
