Letter: Vineyard continues to navigate through uncharted waters

The Russell family sent this out to Westport Rivers Vineyard and Winery customers and friends ...

As most of you know, a new Covid19 order came down yesterday (Wednsday). The Governor's office, the ABCC, and the Westport Board of Health have all informed us that we are required to sell food prior to any alcoholic beverage purchases, and that picnics are no longer allowed on our farm.

You do not need to purchase food with every beverage purchase however in order to enjoy wine and beer by the glass you will need to initially purchase a food item. We recognize that many of you have enjoyed bringing your selection of nibbles and picnicking; however, for us to remain open, no outside food is allowed until further notice.

We know this is a bit of a curveball, but please do not bring your food to Westport Rivers. Please order from the food truck which is now onsite daily or enjoy the cheese etc sold in our retail store. This includes attendees at our Sunset Music Concert Series.
If you'd like to comment on this, the most effective way to have your voice heard is to please do so to the Governor himself. You can email him at https://www.mass.gov/forms/email-the-governors-office.
We continue to remain open from 11 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday for wine and beer by the glass (no tastings or tours at this time) and "carload" tickets (if available) for Sunset Music will be sold on our website every Tuesday at 1pm.
We are navigating a course through uncharted waters. We will continue to excel at accomplishing all the goals of the guidelines set forth and keep all visitors to the winery safe.
Thanks for understanding and we look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
The Russells
