Letter: Those behind coup attempt must face consequences

To the editor:

Many agree with Senator Jack Reed’s commentary that it is “time to move on from a disgraced presidency” and “those who sought to torch our democracy must be held accountable.”   Accordingly, Josh Hawley and Rafael (Ted) Cruz must be among those held accountable. If they do not resign from the US Senate, I look forward to Senator Reed’s efforts to have them expelled.

It is imperative that Trump stand trial in the Senate once again for his Impeachment.  It is even more imperative that he suffer consequences for his role in Inciting a Government Coup.   If that isn’t considered a crime that’s due punishment, what is?

These efforts can be pursued simultaneously while offering full support to our lawfully elected President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris and their efforts to move the country forward, and to actually govern, instead of watching TV and golfing all the time.
