To the editor:

Just as Progressives insisted that implementation of education reform initiatives in the 1990s was locally generated by changing the name of Mastery Learning to Outcome Based Education to Outcome Driven Developmental Model to Cooperative or Collaborative or Competency Based Learning, the list went on. Agenda 21/30 is now being renamed The Great Reset -— something "better." 

Please don't be duped or deceived (again). Are we American or World Citizens? Are Lifelong Learners going to be remediated under the guise of mandated grant requirements and Total Quality Management (an "educational" buzz phrase of the 90s) until they comply with a unified and approved narrative? Are Lifelong Learners you and me?

What, exactly, is "a DESE approved learning platform and assigned educator?" (Westport Shorelines, "Schools set 'hybrid' opening course", August 27, 2020, p. 2). C'mon man, your readers want details. What happened to local control, elected representation, or consent of the governed? Maybe we're beginning to wonder why Westport is building a $97 million school (minus central administration space) if a state-approved app plus facilitator can reach the same outcome.

By the way, anyone who drives a Silverado drives a Chevy, but not all Chevrolets are Silverados. Likewise, COVID-19 was caused by a Coronavirus, but all Coronaviruses (a large family of germs) are not COVID-19 (a specific disease). The two terms used interchangeably are more doublespeak, more confusing deception, another ploy to increase positive cases and fear mongering in order to achieve a desired result. Westport taxpayers drank this Kool-Aid before. Does it taste any better the more you swallow it?
