Letter: Property owners have every right to keep trespassers out

To the editor:

I have just finished reading Cornelia Colijn's letter published in the November 19 edition. This woman obviously has no concept of private property and is using the buzzwords of "inclusivity and "exclusivity" to support her arguments.

"Keep out: and "Private way" signs are directed at everyone — black, white, blue or pink who do not own or live on a piece of property, so twisting this to become a racial issue is disingenuous.

People who own property should be able to restrict access as they see fit without first forming a committee to see if all concerned agree.

People with property on or near the coast or beaches own the land to the mean high water mark. They should not be expected to allow hordes of uninvited guests to swarm through their yards simply because someone wants easy access or feels they have the right to do so.

If the argument Ms. Colijn presents holds true then why not put out signs telling everyone to come on in and do whatever you want?

Fortunately this is not  the case here and I doubt it is the case in Philadelphia either.
