Letter: Progressives’ intentions obscured by deception and lies

To the editor:

Judging by the primary election results, the progressive Democrats have taken another step in their professionally directed, heavily funded plan to take control of the state legislature. Like all radical socialists, their intentions are obscured by deception and lies to keep it from alienating voters. If you check their websites, blogs and social media, however, you might find the following agenda items:

Eliminate the private ownership of firearms by enacting increasingly restrictive laws leading to confiscation and introducing mandatory prison terms for any act of self-defense. It's interesting that incumbents Seveney and Cortvriend have supported and co-sponsored every anti-gun bill handed them by the local Bloomberg groups. If elected, Ms. McGaw will do the same.

Once firearms have been removed from honest hands, progressive fuzzy logic says all crimes of violence will end, allowing them to disarm and then de-fund police. This is a high priority. Removing the means of resistance will allow reinterpreting state and federal constitutions to eliminate what they consider “excess freedoms,” especially those in the First Amendment. These will be replaced with laws reflecting whatever is trendy, such as immunity from prosecution for any “protester” who commits an act of violence. According to progressive thought, looting, arson and assault are not crimes but forced reparations.

Social engineering: Alter history to conform to their views. Eliminate private property and force diversity, whereby a bureaucrat will tell you where to live and who your neighbors will be.

Free everything for everyone, paid for by increasing taxes on the “wealthy,” interpreted as: Anyone who works for a living.

Open national borders to ensure a large voter base of illegal aliens.

The Green New Deal. Stopping the production of fossil fuels, believing the fantasy that wind and solar power will supply all needs. Ignore the facts that more energy is required to manufacture solar panels and wind turbines than they will generate in their useful lifetimes, that they come with environmental risks of their own and the power they do generate is too inconsistent to support the grid. No oil means no plastics, high tech items, fuels or lubricants.

As Winston Churchill said: “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”

If this isn't your vision of the future, vote for anyone other than a progressive.
