Marriott International’s TownePlace Suites in Westport is now open for business. The new 90-room all-suite hotel is “built for travelers looking for an effortless and friendly place where they can settle-in, keep their routine, and easily connect to the local area,” the company said in an announcement last week.

Located at 41 Old Bedford Road immediately off Interstate 195, the hotel is also home to the new corporate office of Lafrance Hospitality, which owns and manages the TownePlace Suites in addition to several other hotels, restaurants, and venues across New England and Florida.

Opening General Manager Michael Dougherty said, "We are excited to bring the extended stay TownePlace Suites by Marriott brand to the Fall River Westport area. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, we have what you need and are eager to serve you."

The hotel offers studio and one-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens, as well as separate living/working and sleeping areas. Suites feature full kitchens with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, adjustable work spaces with built-in shelves and lighting, large flat screen television, and “plenty of storage and flexible space to spread out and make it their own.”

Guests can create their own complimentary hot breakfast in the lobby area and can fire up dinner on the outdoor Weber grills. The adjacent Galley Grille offers sit-down dining as well as full take out service with delivery to the hotel. Hotel amenities feature a modern fitness center open 24 hours a day with free weights, Precor fitness equipment, Peloton cycle, and space for yoga exercises. The indoor heated pool is handicap accessible and offers a view of Lake Watuppa.

Other amenities include a meeting room, guest laundry facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and on-site business services — and the hotel is pet friendly.

The Lafrance hospitality business originated in 1946 with the White Spa Diner in Fall River, and approaches its 75th anniversary with a fourth generation of family members extending a welcome.
