John Peckham, 50, Tiverton

John Peckham, 50, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, surrounded by his family.

John was born May 5, 1969, in Newport, Rhode Island, to John S.C. Peckham and Cynthia Peckham.

John was a skilled mason. His artistic ability was evident in the many beautiful brick and stone structures that he created.

John loved the outdoors, as well as hunting, fishing and trapping, which he learned from his dad.

John is survived by his parents, John S.C. Peckham and Cynthia Peckham, of Little Compton, as well as his children, John A.L. Peckham II, Ali S. Peckham, Kyle J. Peckham, Jameson E. Peckham, and Hailey M. Peckham. John is also survived by his siblings, Nicole A.P. Page, and Nadine E. Flowers.

Upon the family’s request, services will be private.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
