Jo Anne A. Boivin, 64, formerly of Tiverton

Jo Anne A. Boivin, 64, of New Bedford, formerly of Tiverton, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Brandon Woods Nursing Home, New Bedford. She was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Albert and Lorraine (Bouchard) Boivin.

Jo Anne loved to paint and share her painting with family and friends. She worked for We Love Children and the Girl Scouts in the 1980s and donated her time in the later years at the Tiverton Senior Center, She also volunteered at Dr. Harnett’s office in Tiverton and James L. Maher Center in Newport. Jo Anne also received over 30 medals at the Special Olympics.

Jo Anne is survived by her siblings, Paul Boivin of Cranston, Doreen Rosinha and her husband Donald of Florida, and Richard Boivin of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews.

Jo Anne’s funeral will be held on Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. from the Boule Funeral Home, 615 Broadway, Fall River, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, 316 Judson St. Tiverton. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Ghost Church 316 Judson St. Tiverton, RI. 02878 for Mass and Remembrance for Jo Anne.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
