Ives B. Nathan of Tiverton, R.I., and formerly of Mamaroneck, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019. He is survived by his children, Scott (and his wife Audrey), Lisa (and her husband Jeff Freedman), and Bruce (and his wife Christina), ten grandchildren and their spouses, and his loving partner, Annie Lipman.

After attending USC and graduating from NYU, Ives proudly served his country in the Korean War, married Lois Lewis and with her raised their three children in Mamaroneck, New York. Ives was an active member of the local community in his roles as president of the Mamaroneck Public Library, Trustee/Deputy Mayor of the Village of Mamaroneck, liaison to the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department and, more recently, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Villages at Mount Hope Bay in Tiverton.

Ives loved tennis and regularly organized neighborhood tennis games. With Lois and then after her passing with Annie, Ives traveled the world. Ives’ friends and family will remember him as a man who brought with him a jovial spirit and loved to be surrounded by friends and merriment.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Tiverton Land Trust online at https://www.tivertonlandtrust.org/support-the-trust/membership.html or by sending a check to Tiverton Land Trust, PO Box 167, Tiverton, RI 02878.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
