Ginger-Lee Seekell, age 42, of Middletown, Rhode Island, passed away on January 21 2020, at Newport Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Ginger is survived by her mother, Susan Worthen, and her stepfather, Ken Worthen. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Shirley (Reed) Arruda, and grandfather, George A. Arruda, her beloved “Papa,” deceased of Tiverton. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin A, (Alice Bianchi) Seekell II of Taunton, Mass.. Ginger was niece to Mrs. Cindy A. Jette her Godmother, (Russell P. Jette, deceased). Ginger was preceded in death by her Godfather, David A. Arruda, deceased. Ginger-Lee is the niece of Teresa (Arruda) Lima, Katie Ayers, Linda Ellis and Timothy Seekell, deceased. Ginger is also survived by her brother Justin Titus of Taunton, Mass. Her cousins loved her dearly, Nicholas J. Lima, Charis Anne Jette and Thomas G. Lima. Ginger is also survived by many great-aunts and uncles and numerous second cousins, and will be sorely missed by her two great-cousins Jayden J. Jette and James B. Stevens.

Her life may have been short lived, however Ginger-Lee made a powerful impact on those who passed her way.

Ginger-Lee was born August 9, 1977, in Providence, to the late Benjamin Seekell III and Susan Worthen.

Ginger was a loving and caring person. She loved to paint, she was an Avid New England Patriots fan and would have many conversations with her stepdad Ken about football. She was the 1983 Easter Seals Poster Child for Rhode Island. Despite her disability, Ginger lived life to the fullest. She made friends with anyone she meet, some of her closest friends have been the people that she has met at Looking Upwards, where she attended the day program for five  years.

Ginger attended Meeting Street School (MSS), East  Providence, for eight  years, graduated from Tiverton Middle School, attended Tiverton High School and graduated from Rogers Career Vocational Technical Center, Newport.  Ginger also attended NE Tech of Warwick.

Member of Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA), she was awarded a Second Place Silver Medal for Action Skills in the Rode Island VICA State Competition 1997.

Ginger enjoyed Boyz II Men, TLC  and New Kids on The Block to name a few of her favs.

Ginger was employed at the Hyatt Newport as a PBX operator from 2002-2004, then moved on to Looking Upwards as an administrative secretary. Ginger ended her carrier as an artist, having her latest painting displayed in a Newport gallery.

In honor of Ginger-Lee, Grandma and Papa Arruda opened a craft store in 1983, naming the business Ginger-Lee Crafts, formerly located at 386 Main Road, Tiverton. Ginger’s art lessons started with her “Papa and her Grama,”  Learning some of her unique painting stokes in the lesson room.

Ginger enjoyed Football, and was a deeply devoted lifelong Fan of the New England Patriots. When former New England Patriots running back Mosi Tatupu met Ginger at MSS his heart melted and they became immediate lifelong friends. Ginger’s hobbies included anything related to NASA and the wrestler HHH, John Senna; attending many WWE events with her stepfather and her friend Charlie in Providence.

Ginger traveled with her mother and her grandparents to NASA, Yugoslavia, Florida, Maine, summered in Martha’s Vineyard for many years at Camp Jabberwocky, NH, Atlantic City, NJ, and other locations under the sun.

Calling hours were January 24 from 4 -7pm at Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Her funerals service was held on January 25 at 10 am at Holy Ghost Church, Tiverton.

Burial was in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.
