TIVERTON — Teams from LaSalle Academy were the winners of both the boys’ and girls’ Metropolitan Division cross country meet held Monday, Sept. 26, over the 3.1-mile layout on and around the Tiverton High School grounds.

The Rams defeated the host Tigers and East Providence by the same 15-50 scores as well as Portsmouth by a 15-48 count led by overall race winner Raymond Flores, who clocked a first-place time of 17 minutes 54 seconds to edge out his teammates Marshall Vernon (17:56) and Blake Santos (17:57). In fact, LaSalle’s five scoring runners were the top five overall finishers.

Portsmouth’s lead runner was Wake Zani, who ran seventh overall in 18:58. Christian Vachon was next in for the Pats and overall in eighth at 19:08. Kevin Sullivan was third for Portsmouth and 11th overall in 19:21. Jack Marston was the fourth Patriot to finish, running 15th in 19:51 and Daniel Carllin was the fifth Portsmouth scorer in 18th at 2014.

In between, Tiverton’s top runner was Nicholas Mercer in 12th overall with a time of 19:27. East Providence was led by Tyler Robinson in 16th overall with a time of 19:47. Two other Townies placed in the top 20 as Roger Beaudet ran 16th in 20:07 and Jordan O’Hara 17th in 20:14.

Portsmouth also beat Tiverton, 17-46, and E.P., 19-40. The Townies edged the host Tigers 25-30.

The LaSalle girls mirrored their male counterparts, claiming the top six spots overall to defeat Portsmouth, 15-46. Taylor Maluk led the Rams with a winning time of 22:31.

Mae Marston led four Patriot runners in a row, placing seventh overall in 23:33. Katie Yalanis (23:35), Eleni Drosinos (23:43) and Hanalei Streuli (23:47) were next in, running eighth-10th. Addison Dalton was the fifth Patriot scorer, running 13th in 24:12.

Hailey Perry (26th, 28:34) paced three Tiverton runners in the top 30 followed by Norah Winslow (28th, 29:08) and Tabitha Shepard (30th, 33:30).
