EAST PROVIDENCE — Two of the teams atop the Division II girls' soccer table, host East Providence High School and Moses Brown, met Friday afternoon, Sept. 20, at Pierce Stadium, the home Townies and visiting Quakers playing to a spirited 2-2 draw.
East Providence remained undefeated to date, seeing its record move to 5-0-1. Moses Brown's marked was 5-1-1 after the contest, which left both sides with 16 points in the standings. Each only needs three more points from their remaining 10 regular season games to earn the 19 minimum for D-II playoff qualification.
Grace Fitzsimmons scored the game's first goal for Moses Brown, scoring on a long shot from the right side in the fourth minute.
Alyssa DeOliveira later potted two goals for the Townies in quick succession mid-way through the first half. She tied the scored with a perfectly placed direct kick from some 35 yards out and then punched home a nifty back-heel pass from Samantha Feola to give the locals the lead.
Moses Brown eventually tied the game 12 minutes into the second half as Morgan Plouffe scored on a rebound of an initial shot.
EPHS keeper Mia Jackson was credited with eight saves. Kelly Graziano made five stops in the Moses Brown net.
