Jehovah's Witness lived in Tiverton for many years

Gale Mercedes Goulart, 73, of Tiverton, passed away on October 19, 2021. She was the loving wife of John Goulart for 42 years. She is also survived by two sons: Christian Haler of New York and Jarrod Goulart and his wife Casey of Warren, RI; her brother Wayne Davis and his wife Barbara of Tiverton, RI; and her sister Donel Fattibene and her husband Jody of Somerset, MA. She was also the sister to the late Randy Davis. Gale also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, her aunt and cousins who she always remained very close with.

Gale was born on December 28, 1947 in Fall River, MA to Don L. Davis and Louise (Lemar) Davis.  She graduated from Durfee High School in 1964. She worked as a medical transcriptionist and house cleaning for many years. She was a homemaker for much of her lifetime, a job which she took very seriously. To say she was a good cook is an understatement and her home was always sparkling clean and beautifully decorated. Gale had many dear friends. She was known for her sense of humor and always trying make others laugh.

In 1972 Gale was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a member of the East Tiverton Congregation. For many decades she dedicated much of her time helping others learn about the true hope and comfort that can be found by understanding God’s Word, the bible.

Arrangements are with the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial will be held on Zoom Sunday, November 7 at 1 pm.  See www.almeida-pocasset.com for on line guest book.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
