Writers' Residency Live Community Reading

Posted

After spending the month of April working on the grounds of Linden Place, 8 creative writers will present their works-in-progress at a unique community reading and moderated discussion on Thursday June 2nd from 6:30-8 p.m. The event will also include four young writers from Write Rhode Island who will open the program reading excerpts from their short fiction.
The audience will meet on the front lawn of the property and then travel around the exterior of the mansion to various “stops” where the writers will read from their works. The last stop will be the ballroom where the audience will sit for a moderated discussion with the writers. In lieu of rain, the whole event will take place in the ballroom.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
