Westport Summer Farmers Market debuts Saturday at Annex

Posted

The Westport Farmers Market opens up its summer season at its new location starting this Saturday, June 17. It will be held at the Town Hall Annex at 856 Main Road in Central Village, Main Road in Westport.

The Summer Market’s new location benefits both vendors and customers, organizers say. “For vendors, the new location adds visibility from Main Road and will hopefully bring in more customers. It will also improve vendors’ ease of doing business as they can park their pickup trucks directly behind their display tables for easy access to product.

“For customers, the new location makes it convenient for those doing business in Central Village as part of their Saturday morning routines.”

The Westport Summer Market will be set up in the south parking area of the Town Annex, with parking for patrons on the front, north and back lots. The area is more than 8,000 square feet and should provide ample space for the many farmers, craftspeople and other vendors who will participate.

The Summer Farmers’ Market will be a showcase for the variety of farmers from Westport and nearby towns and will give consumers the opportunity to buy fresh, locally-grown food, including vegetables, meat, cheese and baked goods. Other vendors will include artisans and other independent sellers of unique local items.

The Market will run for 16 weeks, from Saturday, June 17 through September 30, 2017.

This year’s vendors include Paradise Hill Farm, Skinny Dip Farm, Quonsett Farm baked goods, Weatherlow Farms, Ray’s Kettle Corn, Sharon Owens Baskets, Lynn McCarthy jewelry and art, Hidden Gardens flowers and arrangements, Gray’s Grist Mill, Barri Throop jams and preserves, Hillcrest Farm Alpaca products, Elpiniki Bakery, Lookout! Designs, Nautical Creations, and Steve Connors & Friends Photography.

The list will grow and change over the course of the summer, and updates will be provided.
