WESTPORT — At its morning meeting on March 16, the Westport Board of Health recommended that the Board of Selectmen declare a state of emergency in the Town of Westport due to the risk to public health associated with the spreading coronavirus.
The selectmen Board did so at its meeting later the same day.
While the emergency continues, municipal town buildings including Westport Town Hall and Town Hall Annex are closed to the public, effective immediately, but all staff continues to work.
The Transfer Station and Recycling Center will maintain normal operation and schedule. Payments are still in the form of checks or money orders only, No cash.

Health Department staff information:
Health Department operations during the COVID-19 emergency continue to evolve. The board will hold virtual meetings only for the foreseeable future; on line and phone access information can be found through the Town website, when the meeting agenda is posted.
For anyone needing to drop off permits, plans and applications, the department will have a drop box available by the end of business on March 18, which will be located outside the front door of the Town Hall Annex at 856 Main Road. This box is available for all departments in the Annex.
