On Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, Wendy MacKenzie Allen, loving daughter, sister and mother of Thomas and Caitlin, passed away peacefully at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer. Wendy was born on Oct. 5, 1952, in Berlin, N.H., to Jock and Genevieve MacKenzie. Wendy attended Dover, N.H., High School and McIntosh College.
Wendy relocated to Bristol, R.I., where she married and raised her two children, Thomas and Caitlin. For 16 years, Wendy worked for East Bay Newspapers in a variety of roles, ending her career as an Accounting Manager, working at a job she loved while making many lifelong friendships.
Wendy was a dedicated and loving mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Wendy had an easy-going personality and always made people around her laugh. Her smile would brighten a room, and her laugh was contagious.
Wendy enjoyed gardening, playing with her dog Cooper, and volunteering at events with the Hopeworth Neighborhood Association.
In addition to Wendy’s children, Thomas Allen of Danbury Conn., and Caitlin Allen of Stamford, Conn., she is survived by her sisters, Sally (MacKenzie) Horneck of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Mary Beth MacKenzie of Shelton Conn., brother Scott MacKenzie of Palm Coast, Fla., and several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and a grandnephew throughout the Northeast. Wendy follows both her father Jock and mother Genevieve in eternal rest.
Please join us celebrating Wendy’s life Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Sansone Funeral Home, located at 192 Wood St., Bristol, R.I. Visiting hours are 1 to 3 p.m., with a memorial remembrance at 2:30 p.m.
