Welcome back to Christmas at Blithewold – 'A Day in the Life'

Every year, the Blithewold mansion and arboretum are transformed into a dazzling display celebrating the magic of Christmas. This year’s theme is “A Day in the Life,” which provides insights into the family and staff throughout the mansion. Christmas trees, decorations, swags, ribbons and more deck every room and hallway. There also are teas Tuesdays to Fridays and a jazz brunch.

WHAT: “Christmas at Blithewold”

WHERE: Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum, 101 Ferry Road, Bristol

WHEN: Wednesday to Sunday, Nov. 23 to Jan. 1, from 11 a.m.to 3 p.m.

COST: $18 adults, $14 military & students, $8 ages 6 to 17,  $45 for family and SNAP/EBT for $2

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
