Warren police logs: Three minutes, two DUI arrests

Monday, June 17

Police were called to Chestnut Street at 9:08 a.m. to keep the peace in a child custody matter.

Money was reported stolen from a Libby Lane residence.

A caller told police just before 11 a.m. that a man was chasing another down Water Street, near Campbell.

A Libby Lane resident called police to report that items had been moved around in the apartment.

Eric Rodriguez, 34, of 337 Child St., second floor, was charged with driving after the denial, suspension or revocation of his license, after police pulled him over on Main Street just before 5 p.m.

A man contacted police to report being harassed. He didn’t want a report filed; just to make the police aware of the situation.

Tuesday, June 18

Items were reported stolen from a car parked on Washington Street.

A caller reported that the traffic light at Campbell and Main was stuck on red. Police checked it out, gave it the green light.

A Main Street woman called to report that it looked like people had gotten into her car while she wasn’t home. It turned out to be friends of her daughter.

A passerby reported seeing a young child walking naked on Mason Street. Police said the call appeared to be unfounded.

Wednesday, June 19

Officers dispersed an unwanted woman from a Main Street address after getting a call at 2:43 a.m.

Police got word that a car traveling at excessive speed passed a school bus, with its stop sign out, on Franklin Street. Police looked for but could not locate the car.

A tractor trailer truck got stuck trying to negotiate the corner at Water and Miller streets.

A worker from the Warren Animal Hospital took custody of what appeared to be an osprey with two broken wings, after a call came in from Wood Street.

Rescue crews brought a woman to the hospital after she called from Kelly Street, said she was intoxicated and requested help.

Thursday, June 20

A caller reported seeing kids going through cars on Ridgeway Drive. Police spoke to three males behind the CVS, and said an area search was negative for the appearance of any cars that might have been rummaged.

Police diverted traffic around the area of Schoolhouse and Birchswamp roads, after a tree fell across the road.

Police were able to let him back in after a Libby Lane man reported locking himself out of his apartment.

A man brought in a counterfeit $100 bill he’d received.

Police called for a tow after a Linwood Court man told them that two cars were blocking his driveway. About 45 minutes later, a woman from the same street called to report loud music.

A woman reported seeing a man with a knife, wearing a black mask and black clothing, running along Child Street at 10:58 p.m. Police caught up with the man, who was actually carrying a stick.

Friday, June 21

A boy reported missing from a Main Street group home a few hours earlier returned home at 3:32 a.m.

National Grid was called out after DPW workers struck a gas line on West Street at 11:20 a.m. Police evacuated a home on Riverview Avenue and another on West while the leak was contained. Though crews were able to contain the leak, the fire department was called out at 5:45 p.m. by a West Street man who said there was still a smell of gas in the basement. Police blocked southbound traffic from Barker Avenue to River View Street and crews investigated; it turned out to be residual gas from the earlier call.

Police got a call about a mother and son arguing on Vernon Street. Police spoke to the woman, who said she had been disciplining her son.

An employee at a Metacom Avenue establishment reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill.

Police tracked down a Bristol woman, formerly of Warren, who did not pay a $108 tipping fee at the transfer station. She told officers she would go by the DPW Monday morning.

Nelson G. Vieira, 34, of 12 William St., was arrested on a warrant.

Saturday, June 22

Jason L. Medeiros, 29, of Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Metacom Avenue at 2:02 a.m.

Jared C. Roscoe, 24, of 91 Main St., Apt. 221A, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Main Street at 2:05 a.m.

A woman reported a cow loose on Barton Street. Police reported that a family member was on the scene.

A woman called to report women smoking in the playground area on Asylum Road.
Cattle were reported back out on Barton Avenue.

A woman reported her bike stolen from the bike rack in front of the library.

Sonya Paiva, 47, of 12 Patience Lane, was charged with domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property and domestic disorderly conduct, after police were called to Patience Lane at 3:02 p.m. for a dispute.

A Libby Lane woman told police that money was missing from her apartment.

Another cow call to Barton Avenue came in, and police noted that the caller threatened to “eliminate” the cattle due to their escape being a common occurrence. The cattle’s owners were advised.

A fireworks complaint came in from Wood Street at 9:15 p.m.

A loud music complaint came in from Federal Street at 9:20 p.m.

Sunday, June 23

A Birchswamp Road resident came into police headquarters to report harassment.

Police got a call that a hedgehog was stuck under a trashcan on Bridge Street.

Multiple callers reported a group of kids fighting on Main Street just after 6 p.m.

A Cottage Street caller reported that her dog bit a neighbor’s chicken and a verbal argument ensued. No word on whether fowl language was used.

A caller reported a loud house party on Bristow Street.
