Warren police logs: Three DUIs to start off the New Year

Monday, Dec. 30

A caller complained about a car parked in front of a fire hydrant at the corner of Baker and Main streets. Police tracked down the owner and advised him to move the car.

A caller to headquarters asked to speak to an officer about threatening phone calls.

A Touisset Road woman called police after someone threw a coffee cup into her yard.

Police aided a Libby Lane man who had unknown issues with his computer.

A caller from Patterson Avenue reported heavy smoke in the area just before 2 p.m. Police noticed the smoke was “caused by chimney.”

The animal relocated a bird, rabbit and dog to the animal shelter, after they had been abandoned in a home on Main Street. Police tracked down the owner, who later retook possession of the animals.

A Beach Street man asked for a police escort as he went back to the address to gather belongings.

Crews transported a woman to the hospital after police got a call about an intoxicated woman walking in a Metacom Avenue plaza parking lot.

Tuesday, Dec. 31

An anonymous caller told police a man in a Market Street parking lot had exposed himself just before 12:30 p.m. He was described as wearing winter clothing and was about 6’2”. Police looked but could not locate him.

A caller told police that a fox was behaving strangely, near Main and Campbell streets.

A woman went to the station to report that her juvenile daughter refused to tell her where she was. Police located the girl, spoke to her and brought her to the station, and handed her over to her mother’s custody.

A Metacom Avenue man complained about loud music coming from the apartment below him.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

Police were called to a loud house party on Overhill Road just after midnight, and a rescue crew ended up transporting an intoxicated person to the hospital.

Thursday, Jan. 2

A caller from Barden Lane told police there was a group of kids running around, acting suspiciously and possibly playing Manhunt. The call came in at 12:33 a.m.

Preston E. Kelleher, 20, of Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, after police pulled him over at Homestead and Metacom avenues at 2:35 a.m.

A woman called to report that she’d just had a verbal argument with her boyfriend in a Union Street parking lot.

Friday, Jan. 3

Jose Carrion, 43, of 258 Main St., Apt. F, was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, after police got a call at 12:39 a.m. about a man who was playing the drums loudly and yelling.

Police looked for but could not locate a possible drunken driver on Main Street, after receiving a call from a resident.

James R. Sabourin, 57, of Warwick, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over at Metacom Avenue and Kickemuit Road just before 5 p.m.

A Metacom Avenue woman asked to speak to an officer about harassing comments her neighbor had allegedly made.

A Main Street residents complained that tenants were smoking marijuana. Police checked it out, deemed all OK, but advised the tenants of the complaint.

A caller complained about a driver slamming on the brakes for no apparent reason, on Main Street. Police stopped the car; the driver was having trouble with his GPS and had pulled over to address it.

Saturday, Jan. 4

Travis J. Smart, 29, of 72 Everett St., Apt. 2, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Market Street at 2:50 p.m.

Police were asked to check on the well-being of a heavily intoxicated man on Main Street. Officers reported that the man had been brought home by a friend.

Sunday, Jan. 5

A Main Street woman told police at 2:58 a.m. that there was a drunken woman on her porch. Police arrived, and rescue crews took the woman to the hospital.
