Warren police logs: Another possible opioid overdose

Monday, Nov. 25

Ryan VanWinkle, 29, of 4 State St., Apt. 3N, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct, after a caller from State Street told police at 8:09 a.m. that there was a woman with possible eye injuries who needed a rescue.

A caller from Central Avenue alerted a dispatcher at 9:15 a.m. that there was a raccoon in a trash barrel, and a loose dog, on her property. She said there was no contact between the animals.

Rescue crews transported a person to the hospital, who’d passed out while donating blood.

A Blackthorne Lane woman told police that a FedEx delivery had been stolen from her porch.

A caller reported seeing a sign in a Metacom Avenue window that read, “Please call 911.” Police checked it out and got the full story: The sign, partially obscured, read “If you see someone tampering with this window, please call 911.”

A passerby spotted an abandoned bicycle, missing its wheels at the Burr’s Hill basketball courts.

Christopher M. Siembab, 42, of 2 Bull CRSG, Warren, was arrested on a warrant for being a fugitive from justice. He was taken to the ACI.

Tuesday, Nov. 26

Items were reported stolen from a home on Birchswamp Road.

A Main Street woman told police that her sister stole her mail and used her social security number to open a business.

Joan Francis, 65, of 8 Park St., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled her over at Miller Street and Narragansett Way at 8:17 p.m.

A caller from Wood Street asked police to disperse his aunt, who was possibly intoxicated and was making verbal threats. The call came in at 11:40 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 27

A caller told police just after 1:30 p.m. that a tractor trailer snagged overhead Christmas lights from Main Street and was dragging them behind.

Police were called toArlington Avenue for non-physical domestic issues.

A Metacom Avenue man complained that a woman had been sending him text messages despite a no contact order being in place.

A caller told police that a man who might have been drunk was preparing to drive out of a Market Street parking lot. Police checked it out and made no arrests.

Police investigated a possible drunken man Market Street. Turns out he just had a bum knee.

Thursday, Nov. 28

Emilee N. Sando, 26, of 316 Metacom Ave., Apt. 1, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled her over on Metacom Avenue at 1:50 a.m.

Matthew Paul Laing, 37, of Jersey City, NJ, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct after a 911 operator alerted police at 2:31 a.m. that a woman called 911 ande requested help before being disconnected.

Eric Frank Knowles, 50, of East Providence, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery, third offense, and domestic disorderly conduct, after police were called to Main Street at 5:17 a.m. to disperse an unwanted man who had barricaded himself inside an apartment bedroom.

Police looked for but could not locate a man who reportedly tried to gain access to a Child Street apartment. He was described as a white male, approximately 5’6”, in his 60s and wearing a flannel jacket.

A Davis Street resident complained that someone was in the basement playing the drums.

Friday, Nov. 29

Connor J. Morenzi, 24, of South Boston, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over at Michael and Casey Drive at 2:11 a.m.

A Franklin Street man complained that someone tried to steal his scooter a day earlier.

A woman came across a syringe while walking along Market Street, and called police.

Talene Elizabeth Hovhannessian, 30, of 323 Main St., was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct, after a caller told police at 3:30 p.m. that his sister had assaulted him.

Police took an intoxicated woman to the hospital after a caller from Main Street requested her removal.

A caller complained that kids were throwing trash at cars passing along Main and Washington streets, just after 9 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 30

James B. Pearson, 40, of 510 Child St., was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over at 1:41 a.m. at the intersection of Child Street and Barker Avenue.

Gary M. Rego, 53, of 329 Main St., was picked up on a Barrington warrant.

Sunday, Dec. 1

John M. Remo, 45, of 19 Bowen St., was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Metacom Avenue at 12:43 a.m.

Police administered Narcan, an anti-opioid, after a caller told police at 7:50 p.m. that her neighbor reported his girlfriend needing help, but he didn’t want to call the police. The neighbor entered the neighbor’s apartment and saw the girlfriend in distress, and called police.

Anglade Benoit, 30 of 700 Metacom Ave., Apt. 231, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct, after two callers from Metacom Avenue reported being assaulted by the other.
