Monday, May 5-Sunday, May 11:
Monday, May 5
A Warren Police officer responded to a noise complaint call from Massasoit Avenue are around 8:30 p.m. of a male party "yelling in the woods." The complainant stated the noise was an ongoing issue and occurred at the time of the call as well as at approximately 4:30 a.m. in the South Burial Ground. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the man, who said he was having a "night terror." The man was advised to refrain from further disturbance.
Tuesday, May 6
In the wee hours of the morning, some nine minutes after midnight, an officer responded to a suspicious vehicle call from Coomer Avenue. The reporting party said a vehicle was in the driveway of a vacant residence and the operator was walking on the property. Upon arrival, the officer confirmed the person had permission to be on the premises and stated he was looking for a tool left behind while doing prior repair work there.
The department received what was recorded as a "miscellaneous complaint" from Bridge Street at about 9:20 a.m. The caller was requesting to speak with an officer regarding the large trucks being detoured from the road closure onto Hall Street. The caller complained about inadequate signage and enforcement of large vehicles passing through the area.
Officers responded to a suspicious person call from Metacom Avenue at around 5:12 p.m. An employee at the location reported a party who entered the business may have matched the description of a male that has been using counterfeit money in other areas. The possible suspect left before the officer could respond. The reporting party was asked to call back if the person returned.
Wednesday, May 7
A juvenile suspect was arrested after police received a call of tampering with vehicles from Hall Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. The reporting caller said a young man attempting to access a vehicle, but fled when confronted. The responding officer found the youth and took him into custody. His parents were alerted and came to headquarters. The young man, 12, was charged with injuring or tampering with vehicles.
Thursday, May 8
Around 12:30 a.m., police received a call of suspicious activity on Market and Benefit Streets. Upon arrival police found a vehicle with the passenger doors open. The owner of the vehicle informed police they were "moving stuff." No further action was taken.
Later in the morning, a call of a suspicious person was received from Main Street at around 11:40 a.m. The caller reported a male party dropped 10-20 paraphernalia in the area. The responding officer later found the person at Child Street and Arlington Avenue. The officer spoke with the male who stated the item was left with him by a friend and he did not want it anymore. The man was advised to use a trash can in the future.
Friday, May 9
Warren Police officers arrested a Bristol woman following a motor vehicle stop at Market Street and Brittney Lane at 1:35 a.m. Maya E. Benedict, 23, of 6 Doran Ave., Apt. #1, Bristol was charged with DUI of liquor - blood alcohol concentration unknown - 1st offense and refusal to submit chemical test. She was arraigned and later released into the custody of a friend.
Saturday, May 10
Police made another motor vehicle related arrest at just before 8 p.m. following a stop at Main Street and Sowamsett Avenue. Sandra P. Milhomens, 48, of 45 Mason St., Warren, was charged with Driving With Suspended/Revoked/Cancelled License - 4th + Offense. She was released on the misdemeanor and provided a ride back to her residence.
Sunday, May 11
The end of the weekend included a larceny report from Maple Street at around 6 p.m. The caller told police someone had stolen the fire hydrant in front of his house. The responding officer reported back the hydrant was missing a piece at the top. The Bristol County Water Authority was alerted of the situation.
