Warren police busy with DUI arrests

Monday, July 8

William Hernandez, 41, of 100 Seymour St., was charged with domestic driving without the consent of the owner, domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

A caller from Main Street asked to speak to an officer; he wanted to talk about a neighbor who had earlier called the police on him. Police determined it was a civil matter.

A woman dancing at a Water Street establishment complained that another woman had bumped into her on the dance floor and that it had happened more than once.

Tuesday, July 9

Michael P. Kurkoski, 66, of 50 Campbell St., was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Market Street at 12:32 a.m.

A caller from State Street complained about college kids playing music.

An Ellis Avenue man complained about his noisy upstairs neighbor.

Wednesday, July 10

A RIPTA bus driver complained about drivers in Warren, saying he believed several were intentionally tailgating or cutting him off.

A Homestead Avenue woman reported receiving harassing text messages. Police spoke to the man involved and advised him not to contact her again.

A fireworks complaint came in from the Fern Drive area.

Someone egged a car on Main Street, the owner’s girlfriend told police.

Fernando Costa, 21, of 727 Main St., was charged with domestic simple assault/batterty and domestic disorderly conduct, after his mother called police to report that he had struck her in the face.

Police dispersed a group of kids who had lit a small fire at the Warren Town Beach.

Thursday, July 11

A Main Street man complained that his roommate had vandalized their apartment.

A FedEx truck took down utility wires on Touisset Road, several callers told police.

A Davis Street woman reported the violation of a protective order.

A caller asked that police check on the well-being of a man spotted lying motionless just off Union Street. Police said the man was OK; he was just relaxing.

A caller told police that a neighbor had a grill moved up right next to the window of his home, and was grilling through the open window.

Friday, July 12

Police were called out to Vernon Street for a dispute between a tenant and landlord.

Zachary J. Williams, 27, of Fall River, was charged with simple assault or battery and disorderly conduct, after police were called to Market and Federal streets at 4:24 p.m. for a disturbance.

An Ellis Avenue resident spotted an opossum in a trash can, and called police.

An Aubin Avenue woman reported the theft of items from her shed.

Saturday, July 13

Bruce A. Miranda, 59, of Rehoboth, Ma., was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Child Street at 1:03 a.m.

A Central Street woman reported that a woodchuck was “walking around in circles.”

Several fireworks calls came in from Vernon Street.

A Main Street woman called police with concerns that her son had broken into her home.

Sunday, July 14

Adam D. Duclos, 47, of Swansea, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, after police pulled him over on Wilbur Avenue.

A caller complained that a man had been attempting to establish a relationship with her 15-year-old daughter via Social Media.

Police got a call about two men arguing on Cutler Street.

A Child Street woman complained that a neighbor’s pit bull got loose and was bothering her dogs.
