Warren PD: A hit and run leads to arrest for drug dealing

Monday, Nov. 28
Police dispersed a man from a Kickemuit Road address at 2:32 p.m.

Gilbert Rene, 33, of Warren, was arrested on a 6th District Court warrant on Main Street at 4:24 p.m. They were arraigned and released.

A 15-year-old juvenile turned themselves in at police headquarters at 4:49 p.m. The charges listed were for first degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct. They were released to a parent later that evening.

Francis McCaughley, 57, of Warren, was arrested on a superior court warrant at 9:29 p.m. after a motor vehicle stop near Child and Monast Streets.

Tuesday, Nov. 29
A stolen laptop was reported on Child Street at 8:19 a.m.

Police looked for a panhandler near Main and Market Streets at 11:47 a.m. but they were gone when they showed up at the scene.

A caller reported their vehicle was damaged while it was parked on Metacom Avenue around 4:24 p.m.

Police searched for a man near Parker Avenue at 5:54 p.m. after a resident called and reported them as suspicious, because they had “came to the door wearing Christmas lights around his neck trying to sell soap.” A search of the area turned up no such jolly salesman.

A female reported an assault on Main Street at 11:26 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 30
Caleb Hayward, 23, of Pembroke, Mass., was arrested at 2:01 a.m. following a motor vehicle stop on Metacom Avenue. He was charged with DUI of liquor (BAC .15 or higher, first offense). He was arraigned later that morning.

An accident involving a car and a deer was reported on Metacom Avenue at 9:03 a.m.

A caller on Almy Avenue reported a door-to-door solicitor at 12:12 p.m. He was gone when police arrived.

Police dispersed a panhandler who was stepping into traffic and stopping cars at 1:30 p.m. near Seymour and Main Streets.

A shoplifting complaint led to a no trespass order request at a Main Street establishment at 2:00 p.m.

Loose cattle was reported near Lone Lane and Barton Avenue at 8:21 p.m. The owner came onto the scene to take care of the animals.

Thursday, Dec. 1
A dispute between students in the cafeteria prompted a police call on Child Street at 1:07 p.m.

Multiple people reported an injured deer in the road near Child Street and Mayo Drive at 7:05 p.m. The deer reportedly ran off into the woods nearby.

Kevin Daniel Medeiros, 19, of Lakeville, Mass., was picked up for arrest on a warrant at 8:21 p.m. He was charged with first, second, and third degree sexual assault and was transported to the ACI later that evening.

Friday, Dec. 2
An accident at 8:01 a.m. near Arlington Avenue and Child Street caused injuries and necessitated the diversion of traffic. Multiple cars had to be towed and multiple people were sent to the hospital as a result.

A man reported at 11:20 a.m. that a rock was thrown at his vehicle overnight.

A report of a student being assaulted on Child Street was reported at 1:18 p.m.

A solicitor reported on Brady Street at 5:45 p.m. was found to have a valid permit to do so.

Saturday, Dec. 3
Kendall Johnson, 34, of Pawtucket, was arrested near Washington and Main Streets at 6:29 p.m. following what was described as a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian. They were charged with failure to stop following an accident resulting in serious bodily injury (first offense), manufacturing/delivery/possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and manufacturing/delivery/possession with intent to deliver ecstasy. They were arraigned and transported to the ACI later that evening.

Sunday, Dec. 4
A person who was reported as suspicious for apparently looking into and under cars on Arlington Avenue was found by police to be looking for his cell phone.

Police dispersed a man on Main Street at 7:26 p.m. after a resident called and reported he had almost followed him inside of his apartment after asking him strange questions.

Monday, Dec. 5
Robert Carson, 39, of Warren, was arrested following an incident on Brown Street at 1:02 a.m. He was charged with domestic violence (assault by strangulation), domestic violence (refusal to relinquish/dame to/obstructing a telephone, first offense), and domestic violence (disorderly conduct, first offense), and second degree robbery.
