WESTPORT — Just one of more than a dozen downed trees along with one snapped telephone pole that have been taken out by the storm's heavy winds.

This one resting on power lines near a transformer closed the road in the area of 220 Narrow Ave., said Detective Jeff Majewski.

"Unfortunately if trees are on power lines it is not safe for the Highway Department to remove them." Traffic lights at Rte 88 and Briggs were also completely out due to power outages in various areas throughout the afternoon on Friday.
