PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High varsity boys’ soccer team ended its regular season with a 1-0 win over Tolman on the road Saturday, but was ousted from the Division I playoffs by the same team just two days later.

Hosting Tolman in a quarterfinal matchup Monday night, the Patriots lost 1-0 in a shootout after a scoreless game in regulation. The Tigers bested the Patriots in penalty kicks, 4-2, and advanced to the semifinals.

Portsmouth, which finished its regular season with a 4-1-3 record, came in to the game as the top seed in the East. The Tigers were the No. 5 seed.

The Patriots’ Teagan Brady and Sam Stamoulis scored the team’s two penalty kick goals.
