Tiverton Penguin plunge returns to Grinnell’s Beach Jan. 1

Posted

TIVERTON — The Tiverton Yacht Club is sponsoring its ninth annual Penguin Plunge at Grinnell’s Beach on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.

“Penguins” will gather on the beach at around 11:45 am and take the plunge into the river at noon. As in previous years, the Penguin Plunge supports the Tiverton Public Library through donations from participants and from supporters who watch the event from the shore. Last year’s plunge was held at Fogland Beach due to construction at Grinnell’s last year.

All are welcome, and New Year’s hats, colorful holiday pajamas and (especially) good tidings are encouraged.

Though not required for participation, penguins are encouraged to obtain library donations in advance. Pledge forms will be available at the Tiverton Public Library on 34 Roosevelt Ave (GPS Muse Way) or online at www.tivertonlibrary.org

All pledge forms and donations should be brought to the beach at the time of the event, and donations in any amount are appreciated. Please make checks payable to Tiverton Library Foundation. All contributions are tax-deductible. For more information, contact the library at 401-625-6796 or Greg Jones at jonesgb@cox.net.
